Online help for the e-Surveillance service
Availability of features described here is dependent on the subscription level a user has been granted.
Live view (start page)
The following buttons are available for each camera:
 |
Snapshot button - Opens a new window with a snapshot from the live view which can then be saved. |
  |
Record buttons - Start and stop a recording of the live video stream. |
  |
Play buttons - Pause and start the live video stream. |
 |
Settings button - Opens the settings page for the camera. |
The start page also includes a number of links at the top:
- Live View - shows the camera(s) connected to your account.
- Recordings - shows recordings from your cameras.
- Settings - shows your account settings. From here you can change your password, add and remove cameras and guests, decide how to view your cameras, etc.
Recordings
This page shows the recordings saved by your cameras.
These recordings can be shown in a list, or as entries in a calendar (see below).
List view
In list view, the latest recording is shown at the top of the list.
Clicking on the AVI or MP4 link will download the recording and play it in a media player. A recording can also be played
back by selecting it in the list and using the controls under the preview window.
To delete one or more recordings, select the required recordings by using the check boxes to the left, and then click the Delete selected button.
To merge 2 or more recordings, select the required recordings by using the check boxes on the left, and then click one of the buttons Get AVI or Get MP4.
AVI - This video format retains the original quality of the recording.
MP4 - A video format that requires less bandwidth and disk space, but the image quality is lower.
Reset List - When this button is clicked, the start date and time for the recording list will be reset to the current date and time. This means that all the events in the list will then be hidden, as they all date from earlier than the new start time. From this point on, only new recordings will be shown. To show older recordings again, set the start date and time to earlier values and click the Search button.
Calendar view
The calendar view shows an overview of your current recordings day by day.
By clicking on a day that contains recordings, the list view of the recordings for the selected day will be shown.
Settings
From this page you can access all the settings for your account, i.e. change your login password, add and delete cameras, manage guest accounts, etc.
Account
Change password - This link shows a page from where you can change your password. Enter your old password, the new password and the new password a second time to verify it.
Click the Save button to apply your changes.
Change language - Following this link allows you to change the language used in the web interface for your account. Select any of the available languages. The change is made immediately.
Change timezone - Allows you to change the timezone for your account. Select any of the available timezones. The change is made immediately.
History - This link shows a page listing all the recent activity in your account, such as logins, recordings etc.
Messages
Notifications - E-mail and SMS notifications can be used to send notification messages whenever an alarm occurs, or if contact is lost with any of your cameras. Enter the recipient for the e-mail or SMS message, select the device(s) to send messages for, and select the type of event to notify for.
It is also possible to set the number of messages to send before it is necessary to log in and acknowledge them. Click the Add button to save your new notification. An existing notification can modified at any time.
Acknowledge - When you have been notified of alarms on your cameras, no more notification messages will be sent until this button is clicked.
Mobile bookmark - To send an SMS message containing a link to your account to a mobile phone, enter the phone number and click the Send SMS button.
Important!
If a mobile phone with a bookmark or message containing a link to your account is lost, it may be possible for unauthorized persons to access your account using that phone. Should this happen, you are strongly advised to change your password as soon as possible.
Viewer method
Select the method to use to view images from the cameras in your web browser.
Edit views - Follow this link to configure preset views on the Live View page. A view defines which cameras to show, in which order to show them, the resolution for each camera, and the frame rate (refresh rate) for the camera images.
Guests
Depending on your own account, it may also be possible to create guest accounts, which then allow other users (friends, family, etc) limited access to your account. The list displayed here shows the currently configured guest accounts.
To change the permissions for a guest, click on the name in the list.
To create a new guest, click on the link Add new guest, fill in the requested information and click the Add button.
You will then see a page allowing you to set the access rights for the guest. Access rights are divided into system permissions and camera permissions.
System permissions - these control actions such as changing passwords, configuring notifications etc., for the guest account.
Camera permissions - these control whether the guest will be allowed to view live video images, to view recordings, delete recordings etc., for a specific camera.
Permissions are granted in groups, where each group can contain a different combination of permissions and time periods. It is thus possible to give the guest e.g. different rights on different days of the week.
To add new guest permissions, click on the guest name, and then on the Add button. Select the days and times the permissions will be valid, then check the permissions to allow and, finally, click the Save button. This creates one group of permissions.
To edit permissions, click the Edit button next to the required permission group.
To delete a permission group, click the Delete button next to it.
To add or remove a camera in the guest account, click the Add or Remove button for that camera in the list of available cameras.
Cameras
The list shows all the cameras connected to your account. To change the settings for a particular camera, click on its name in this list.
These settings can also be reached from the button provided for each camera on the Live View page.
Add new camera
To add a new camera you need the camera's serial number and owner authentication key, which are shipped with the camera.
It is also possible to add non-STS cameras - select it from the list, or add the address (URL) to the image stream and select the image format.
Add new device
To add a new local storage device you need the its serial number and owner authentication key, which are shipped with the device.
Edit camera
The settings available for each camera are:
-
Name - The name of your camera. If omitted, the camera's serial number is shown.
-
Rotation - Allows the image from the camera to be rotated. This can be used when the camera is mounted upside down on the ceiling.
-
Status LED behavior - The status LED is normally off when images are fetched from the camera. This can however be changed so that the LED flashes when images are fetched, or that the LED is always lit.
- Audio - If available on the camera, audio can be enabled by checking this box. Click the + sign to see further settings for audio.
Recordings
Recordings from your camera can be triggered or scheduled.
Triggered recordings
A triggered recording is started by one of the built-in functions in the camera, i.e. by movement in a video motion detection window, or by a signal detected on the camera's digital input.
This type of recording is set up in 2 steps. Firstly you need to define exactly how the trigger will function. Secondly you must set the times at which it will be possible to activate the trigger. For example, you might wish to configure a door sensor connected to the camera's input to trigger a recording when a door is opened, but you might only want it to do so at night and at weekends. Click Set up motion detection & alarm input to configure the triggers.
For motion detection, the following settings need to be made:
-
Select detection area - This determines which part of the image should be checked for motion. Four preset windows are available.
-
Select sensitivity level - This determines which object size should trigger detection - the higher the sensitivity, the smaller the objects that will trigger an alarm. Four preset sensitivity levels are available.
Alarms on the digital input rely on external equipment to trigger recordings. This type of equipment includes infrared motion detectors, door or window breakers/sensors, etc.
An alarm recording from the input starts whenever the detection state changes from Inactive to Active, as interpreted by the camera. The current detection state is shown on this page.
If the current detection state does not match that of the connected device, check the Invert detection state box.
To apply changes made on this page, click the Save changes button.
When the behavior of the triggers has been configured, the times when the trigger will be responsive must be configured. Click the link Set up activation times for triggers.
Scheduled recordings
Scheduled recordings are recordings that start and run at pre-configured times, fetching images at a specified frame rate. To set up a new schedule, click the link Configure schedules.
Select the desired frame rate and times at which to record. The default schedule is to record continuously.
To change the default schedule, uncheck the box Record continuously and select the times at which to record.
Click the Add schedule button to activate the schedule.
Please note that in order to record at different times on the same day, separate schedules must be configured.
